First compound to meet the new EU-DWD requirements

AVK GUMMI has developed the first compound to meet EU-DWD, coming into force January 1, 2027

After more than 3 years of intense research and development and cooperation with suppliers, test laboratories and certified bodies, the first compound has now passed all tests, meeting the criteria in relation to risk group 2 (RG2) and 3 (RG3).

While certificates cannot be issued until 1 January 2027, our certified body has confirmed that they are entitled to issue an intermediate certificate to confirm compliance of the compound.

The compound, a 70 Shore A, EPDM, is foreseen to be used in a wide range of products, intended for drinking water applications throughout all of Europe, including England (WRAS). Tests are ongoing to qualify the compound for global use, including the US, China and Australia/New Zealand.

Following the 70 Shore A compound, 60, 75 and 80 Shore A variants are expected to be qualified.
